WASHOE COUNTY SHERIFF DEPARTMENT

MARINE "9"

INCLINE MARINE AUXILIARY

"IMA"

Washoe County Sheriff's Office-"Marine 9" Vessel

"Marine 9" is a 24' Almar patrol/rescue vessel based in Incline Village, Nevada and is available for use by the department 365 days a year. It is operationally ready for any need, be it emergency, search and rescue, law enforcement requirements and to assist other law enforcement agencies on the Lake. It can be underway within minutes, when the need occurs.

We as a volunteer group maintain a level of proficiency to respond as a team with the WCSO for these “on call” emergencies. Additionally, during the summer season, it is staffed with a deputy and volunteers from the IMA group for routine patrolling and on special events and holidays. We also will schedule special training days, to keep current with the demands of the Washoe County Substation.

On occasion, there is the mutual need to provide training and introduction, to the public, law enforcement and other persons with a need to ride along in law enforcement vehicles.

Marine-9, under rigid guidelines will provide this accommodation. Authorization from key management personnel is required.

When a request has been approved, this individual is required to view the “Onboard Safety” video (see link below), take a brief quiz relating to the safe operation onboard Marine 9 and complete the “INDEMNITY AND HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT”. Please bring it along on your first “Ride-along” assignment or your first meeting. This form will be kept in your file for future rides and indoctrination into the IMA program.

"HOW DO I JOIN"

You need to attend three sanctioned IMA events or monthly meetings. Meetings are held monthly at the Incline Sub Station. Before you attend the first meeting, you will need to view the “Onboard Safety” video (see link below), take a brief quiz relating to the safe operation onboard Marine 9 and complete the "liability waiver", the IMA application and submitt it to an IMA board member. After your third event, this application will be submitted for a full background check. The IMA Board will interview you at the Sheriff's office and vote on your admission to the unit.
